Dan Sheeks- Teaching Real Estate

Introduction:

Dan Sheeks is a high school teacher in Colorado who teaches important topics like financial independence and personal finance. In addition, he owns many rental properties and has his own online community of high achieving students who are aiming for called Sheeks Freaks. This community, which has students between the ages of 15 and 25, allows members to find like minded individuals and learn what it takes to earn passive streams of income.

Where I was on my journey:

This was my second interview that I had completed so I was still figuring out how to ask questions and allow the conversation to flow. I feel that after this interview I realized that this project through the business school was not just a project but a calling for me. Also, during this time I was very interested in learning more about financial independence and things of that nature so my first couple of interviews were mostly composed of people from this field.

Fast five:

1. The number one way for a high schooler or anyone to become a better leader is to put oneself in uncomfortable and unfamiliar situations.

2. Joining a mastermind group of individuals who are also looking to reach financial independence is a good way to be held accountable and to grow.

3. While some people believe that the lack of financial education in schools is a conspiracy, Sheeks believes that is simply due to a lack of funding and budget constraints.

4. A good leader knows how to lead by example and understands their niche and the people within it.

5. As far as books go Sheeks recommended "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", "The Richest Man in Babylon", "The Millionaire Next Door", and his own book "First to a Million":)

Conclusions: Overall, my talk with Dan Sheeks was very eye-opening to me. I learned how a group of like-minded individuals can accelerate learning and growth and that interviewing people not only allowed me to explore more fields but to learn more about myself.
